Selling Life Insurance Requires Behavior Modification

Selling life insurance or selling anything for that matter is something that requires behavior modification to be successful. There is that old saying "successful people do the things that unsucessful people won't do"

What that means is that the successful people have found their success formula through behavior modification. So what do we mean by behavior modification?

Quite simply, you need to start doing the things that provide solid results. Many times, people have a tendency to do the easy things in their career. They end up doing busy work. Stuff that keeps them busy and then they think they done a good days work, but in reality they really done nothing.

As an example. People in the insurance sales business need to make calls to contact prospective clients to sell insurance and get interviews. But what happens, they show up at their desk and they dread picking up the phone. So they end up doing busy work. Shuffle papers, call home office, read a paper, etc. Then they make a few calls and get rejected, so they don't want to do that anymore. Of course no one likes rejection.

Here in lies the problem. Their behavior patterns need to change. Attitude does not change behavior. Attitude is a product of behavior. But how does one change years of bad habits. As we all know, it usually takes 30 days or more to create a habit, and sometimes a little more time to change a bad habit.
